The Webb Site - Pilot Episode

Today I have been married for fifty days. Wow! Time flies. Fifty days is entirely too long to go without posting a blog (sorry Jake), but somehow working two jobs and trying to set up a new life with someone takes time. Who would have guessed? Ha ha.

Anyway, this blog is a continuation of "The Sober Spartan," which I decided to discontinue since I have now graduated and moved on to a new chapter in my life. I named this "The Webb Site" for obvious reasons, and I am so happy that I now have a last name which can be used for a play on words like that. I mean, come on - what catchy title could I have come up with for "Knasel"?? Not a good one, that is for sure. That is reason number 4,876 why I am glad I married Rex.

Married life has been both more difficult and more rewarding than I ever anticipated. It is one of those crazy mysteries that you really don't know about until you get there, and I was pretty nervous because once you're married there is no going back. The hard part is that I see Rex WAY less than I did when we were dating/engaged, which is weird because we live together now. We are both working two jobs, though, so that makes schedules kind of tough. Plus, Rex is also taking a summer class. Psycho overachiever. On the upside, though, that makes the time that we spend together even more special. I could go into a long rant about what a fabulous husband he is and how I love him so much, but I will try to spare you that. I am not really into cyber PDA. I will say, though, that he makes our conflicting schedules work the best he possibly can by doing things such as leaving notes on his pillow for me if he leaves before I get up or making sure there is candy or flowers waiting on the table for me when I get home from work at night. I feel really lucky to be married to him. If I can be half the spouse that he is, I will feel highly accomplished in life. Sorry, that's getting kind of gushy, isn't it? I will end this paragraph now.

The fun part about not seeing Rex too often is that when we do discover that we are both going to have a few hours off together, we plan really fun things to do! We have recently discovered BD's Mongolian Barbeque (I had never been there before this summer), and on Tuesday nights it is college night so we can eat for a really good price! If we ever both have a Tuesday night off we go there (which has only happened twice, but that made it really exciting because we look forward to it all week). Last weekend we went fishing, and we were supposed to go fishing today too but I got sick and can't leave the couch so I couldn't go. Boo. On Monday we both had the day off due to the 4th of July holiday, so we decided to finally get some artwork to put over our bed (the wall was pretty bare). After shopping for some artwork, we both liked a series of nature pictures. We would need to buy five of the pictures (about 8 by 10) to put in a line on our wall. Then we had a brilliant idea: wouldn't it be cooler, more fun, and less expensive to take our own pictures?! So we went for a walk in celery flats (a nature trail by us) and took a bunch of pictures. We picked our favorite five, framed them, and now they are hanging proudly over our bed. Awesome!! It was super fun, and we are both really proud of our "artwork" since neither one of us is particularly artistic. Plus, we got to spend hours outside appreciating nature. It was a fantastic day.

So there is a little peek into my life for you. Hopefully I will be better about updating this blog now that I am a bit settled into Webb life. Stay tuned!
